The primary focus will be on multi directional transitions and backward skating while promoting creativity for players.
On ice - Each group will rotate through line and instructional stations run by Kurt/Michele Nichols and other members of the KNPS team. Specifically, 30 minutes of each day will be dedicated to backwards skating. Backwards skating leads to better balance and drastically improves players transitions and skating creativity on the ice.
There will be a concentration on functional edge work and application while learning to use specific body mechanics and gravity to leverage speed. The secondary focus will be on stick handling, passing/shooting, and puck control.
Off Ice – Our unique off ice training draws from both hockey and figure skating techniques to teach body awareness as well as strength and conditioning. Players will master on ice skating skills with the confidence and familiarity of dryland designed to complement and accelerate their on ice skating.
